The Department of Defense Zero Trust Strategy, released in 2022 and reinforced through the DoD CIO office's implementation roadmap, mandates that all DoD components achieve 'Target Level' Zero Trust across identity, devices, networks, applications, and data by 2027 — making DoD the world's largest single Zero Trust deployment programme. Defence vendors serving the US military supply chain must align their architecture to DoD ZT pillars to retain contract eligibility and satisfy CMMC 2.0 certification requirements.
